The UAE is taking collective action towards a sustainable future through a multitude of initiatives and achievements across a broad range of areas, from achieving net zero, to conservation efforts on land and at sea to encouraging residents to contribute to the country’s ambitious plans to achieve net zero by 2050.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee Responsible for Overseeing Preparations for COP28,  launched the National Sustainability Campaign to galvanize local community engagement in sustainability projects by bringing sustainability stories and case studies forward.

The nation-wide campaign aims to spread awareness about the environmental sustainability issues, encourage local community engagement and support climate action-related strategies to generate positive impact on behavior and responsibilities of individuals to reach an environmentally aware community.

Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, said, “The National Sustainability Campaign will play a significant role in raising awareness in society and among different partners about the UAE’s efforts in local climate action.”

The idea of the campaign is to raise awareness about sustainability projects in the country and engage local communities to participate in and support these initiatives. The UAE aims to create an environmentally responsible community with this campaign.

“Our aim is to showcase the UAE’s efforts, projects, and initiatives that underlie our country’s commitment to meet its climate obligations and achieve Net Zero by 2050,” she added.
