The Universities Climate Network (UCN), chaired by NYU Abu Dhabi, has recently accepted 13 new UAE-based higher education institutions, bringing the total number of universities up to 24.
The UCN, launched in April, brings together UAE-based universities and higher education institutions to drive engagement among youth and academia. Their efforts include dialogues, workshops, and public events, in addition to research and innovation on climate solutions.
The new institutes included are Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Abu Dhabi University, Ajman University, Al Ain University, American University in Dubai, University of Birmingham Dubai, and University of Wollongong in Dubai, among many others.
The initiative initially launched with an event series titled RamadanTalks, covering multiple topics such as the hydrogen economy, climate diplomacy, urban modernity, etc.
COP28 UAE is set to take place at Expo City Dubai, spanning 13 days, from November 30 to December 12, and is expected to host over 70,000 participants, including heads of state, government officials and international industry leaders.
