Digital wallets are seeing increased attention and adoption in Jordan as the country advances its digitization efforts. According to recent statistics from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), the number of e-wallet users in Jordan has risen by 6%, reaching 2.17 million.

The CBJ noted that the country has eight payment and electronic transfer services authorized by the CBJ. Additionally, 19 banks are connected to offer consumers mobile payment services, facilitating financial transactions between mobile wallets and bank accounts.

Sara Younes, a Jordanian banker, told The Jordan Times,E-wallets are becoming staples in Jordan and elsewhere due to their security and convenience, reflecting the widespread adoption of digital financial instruments.”

However, she also highlighted some downsides, noting that users often spend more money than they intend with digital wallets because they lose track of their spending.

Meanwhile, Noor Shabsoug, a Gen Z Jordanian, told The Jordan Times, “People are using digital wallets in Jordan at least twice as much as traditional payments.” This highlights the growing prominence of digital payments across the country.
