The UAE is positioning itself as a leader in the clean energy revolution with a comprehensive strategy that includes solar, wind, green hydrogen, and carbon capture technologies.

Ryan McPherson, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa at the Energy Industries Council (EIC), highlighted that the UAE has added seven renewable energy projects valued at $2.16 billion between H2 2023 and H1 2024, incorporating various technologies, including energy from waste and geothermal energy.

According to McPherson, by the end of 2024, the UAE is expected to have 13 operational solar power projects contributing 10.6 GW to the national energy grid.

“With its year-round solar potential, the UAE is set to expand its investments in solar energy, ensuring it meets its ambitious clean energy targets on schedule, said McPherson.

One of the UAE’s key goals is to generate 1.4 million tons of hydrogen annually by 2031, positioning itself as a global leader in green and blue hydrogen production. Additionally, the UAE’s “Energy Strategy 2050” outlines a $54 billion investment budget through 2030, as highlighted by McPherson.
