Saudi Arabia aims to establish itself as a global film production hub
In line with Vision 2030, the second edition of the Saudi Film Confex enhances investment opportunities and partnerships throughout the sector.
Prince Badr bin Abdullah, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Film Commission, inaugurated the second edition of the Saudi Film Confex in Riyadh.
During the event, Prince Badr outlined plans to establish Saudi Arabia as a hub for film production, stating, “We seek to make the kingdom a regional and international hub for film production, empower talents, and open up horizons for strategic partnerships that contribute to developing the infrastructure and enhance the screening and distribution sector.”
He emphasized the forum’s significance in promoting creative content and advancing the film industry’s infrastructure, encompassing production, screening, and distribution.
“The Film Commission seeks, through the confex, to establish a new stage that goes beyond the limits of creativity and learning and for an integrated film industry that represents a bridge for cultural and economic communication with the world,” he added.
Producers, artists, specialists, and filmmakers from the kingdom and abroad are participating in the four-day Saudi Film Confex. The opening day showcased an impressive attendance of specialized filmmakers, featuring dialogue sessions that addressed critical topics such as the role of support and financing funds in the industry and the integration of the film sector with other developmental areas.
As the kingdom’s first event of its kind, the Saudi Film Confex aims to empower and advance the film industry in line with Vision 2030. The initiative enhances investment opportunities and fosters partnerships across the sector.
The event features a cultural program that includes over 35 activities, more than 65 prominent speakers, 30 dialogue sessions, and 15 specialized workshops. Film talk sessions will also explore various facets of the film industry.
