Sharjah Police has launched the ‘Virtual Reality Radar,’ a project aimed at tackling cyberbullying.

Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, chairman of the Ruler’s Office, inaugurated the initiative at the Sharjah Police Headquarters platform within the Sharjah Government Pavilion during GITEX Global 2024. The event was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, chairman of the Higher Committee of the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX and director of the Sharjah Digital Authority, along with Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.

The Virtual Reality Radar is one of two innovative projects developed by a team of skilled police professionals. This initiative utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to identify cyberbullying by monitoring violations and breaches of virtual platform policies, blocking harmful messages, and generating reports.

The second project, ‘Smart Education,’ aims to create a secure digital community through ‘Sand and Soun,’ the first Emirati virtual family. This project enhances security awareness across multiple languages and addresses various criminal and security issues, including cybercrime and AI-related offenses. It incorporates interactive learning methods to effectively communicate educational messages about the risks associated with these crimes.

Major General Bin Amer stated that these projects showcase the police force’s capacity to leverage innovation and advanced technology to improve community security.
