His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a comprehensive five-year plan (2025-2029) to expand Dubai’s internal road network.

The ambitious project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility across 12 residential, commercial, and industrial areas, covering a total distance of 634 kilometers, with an estimated cost exceeding $1 billion.

This initiative is part of Dubai’s broader efforts to improve residents’ quality of life and support the city’s rapid growth. It ensures that the new roads meet the demands of a growing population and evolving urban landscape.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), highlighted that the plan targets areas with urbanization rates between 30% and 80%.

The plan includes projects in various areas, such as Nad Al Sheba, Al Amardi, Hatta, Nadd Hessa, Al Awir, Al Athbah, Mushrif, Warsan, Wadi Al Amardi, Hind 3, Hind 4, and Al Yalayis 5. These projects are designed to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance overall urban mobility.

Al Tayer emphasized RTA’s commitment to ensuring smooth and safe access to all areas. By the end of last year, Dubai’s total road network had expanded to 6,000 km, with internal roads constructed in 28 residential and industrial areas since 2011.

In 2023-2024, RTA completed 83 km of internal roads across 17 areas, with ongoing projects in Jebel Ali Industrial, Nazwa, Al Warqa, and other key locations.
