Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop 7th edition addresses the concerns of both Windows and MacBook users. With hardware and a user experience reminiscent of the MacBook Air, its sleek design enhances its appeal. The Surface Laptop 7 has a refreshing color palette–sapphire, dune, platinum, and black.

It also offers features designed to cater to diverse users: gamers, movie enthusiasts, working parents, students, entrepreneurs, and more.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

For gamers, the laptop integrates with the Xbox, providing a smooth and immersive gaming experience. Meanwhile, it also appeals to many others for bringing back the classic Paint app, which looks stunning on its vibrant 2K resolution display with 600 nits of brightness.

The combination of sharp visuals and touch functionality turns simple drawing into a delightful trip down memory lane for adults.

In terms of performance, it matches competitors like the MacBook Air with its 120Hz variable refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals. It also supports up to three 4K monitors while keeping its lid open—an impressive feat for multitaskers and professionals who require expansive screen real estate.

All these features are complemented by a suite of Microsoft games and applications, fully optimized for the laptop’s touchscreen capabilities. This makes it a workhorse and a tool of convenience and fun, putting powerful technology at your fingertips.

Whether you’re a gamer, a professional, or someone seeking functionality, this laptop delivers on multiple fronts.

WEIGHTY MATTERS

However, at approximately 1.5 kilos, the Surface Laptop 7 (13.8-inch) is slightly heavier than the same size 13.6-inch MacBook Air, which weighs 1.2 kilos.

That 0.2-kilo difference may not seem like much, but if you’re used to ultra-light laptops, you’ll notice it when carrying it around all day.

BATTERY LIFE

Battery life has long been a key selling point of the Snapdragon X chips, claiming up to 20 hours of usage.

However, there’s an important caveat: this figure only applies to local video playback. In my testing, which involved long calls, video interviews, and keeping YouTube running and the emails tab open, the battery drained out quickly.

It couldn’t last a full day without recharging.

USER-FRIENDLY

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition, integrated with Copilot, offers an enhanced, user-friendly experience, combining powerful hardware with AI-driven productivity tools. Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant, helps streamline tasks like summarizing emails, drafting documents, and organizing information, making work more efficient and intuitive. The high-resolution PixelSense display ensures a portable experience. Powered by Intel’s latest processors, the Surface Laptop provides a seamless performance for both professional and creative tasks. At the same time, Copilot ensures that users get the most out of the device with smart suggestions and assistance.

CONFESSION TIME

Overall, the Surface Laptop 7th Edition offers impressive performance that feels smooth and responsive. With its 11th-gen Intel processors, this laptop handles multitasking, whether you’re working on documents, browsing multiple tabs, or editing photos.

The SSD ensures quick load times and speedy access to files, while the vibrant PixelSense display is crisp and clear.

It’s a good choice for anyone looking for a reliable, design-forward laptop without compromising power.
