You’ve spent hours working out, adjusting your routine, tracking calories, and monitoring sleep. But at the end of the day, how well do you really know your body?

In 2025, we live in a world obsessed with the smallest details—the things we can’t see, the subtle shifts that don’t appear on a scale or in the mirror.

The athlete in us wants more than the basics: how much strain our muscles are under, when our body is recovering, or if there’s a quiet fluctuation in heart rate that signals something deeper.

We want to move better, think clearer, sleep deeper, and live longer. That’s the promise of the next wave of fitness tech.

WHOOP, known for its precision in tracking recovery, strain, and sleep, unveiled the WHOOP 5.0 and MG, offering deeper, more personalized insights to help people better understand and optimize their health. Fast Company Middle East was the only publication in the region invited by WHOOP to try them on.

In an exclusive product review and interview, WHOOP founder and CEO Will Ahmed explains the new release’s standout features, why it matters now, and what it signals for the future of wearables.

THE INSIGHT BEHIND THE BIG LEAP

Ahmed starts by stating a simple but powerful goal.

“For years, our mission at WHOOP was to unlock human performance,” he shares.

This year, for the first time, the focus has broadened. “We’ve expanded that mission: to unlock human performance and health span,” he explains.

“This is a big shift for us,” he continues. “Our mission now reaches well beyond athletic excellence. We’re just as committed to helping people live longer, healthier lives.”

This launch marks a new chapter for WHOOP. For the first time, the company is releasing not just one device but two transformative new wearables alongside a suite of new features. This will be a fundamentally different experience for members, whether they’ve been on WHOOP for a decade or are just getting started for the first time.

WHOOP’s vision now spans all corners of society, empowering individuals to holistically take control of their health. It’s about enabling everyone, not just athletes, to optimize their daily routines, improve recovery, and maintain a high quality of life for years.

At a time when life expectancy is declining in many parts of the world and chronic diseases are on the rise, WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG are set to offer a personalized, proactive approach to well-being.

Ahmed says, “We want to give people the tools they need not only to perform better, but to live better, longer.”

FRESH FEATURES, CLEAR BENEFITS

WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG introduce a host of powerful upgrades.

“Our new hardware and features can potentially transform our members’ health,” says Ahmed.

WHOOP 5.0

WHOOP 5.0

The WHOOP 5.0 is optimized for all-day wearability, offering seamless tracking across 145+ activities. WHOOP MG, meanwhile, includes on-demand ECG capabilities for medical-grade heart health insights, available exclusively in select markets at launch. Both devices are 7% smaller, track data 26 times per second, and offer a 14+ day battery life, with a 30-day wireless Powerpack.

With AnyWear technology, WHOOP users can access 24/7 wearability through a new line of WHOOP Body apparel.

The devices also feature WHOOP’s health-focused metrics, including wrist-based blood pressure estimates. Using patent-pending technology, these insights offer daily estimates of blood pressure, with trends available across weekly, monthly, and six-month intervals. This feature is currently in beta but offers valuable data on how blood pressure impacts performance and overall well-being.

Women also benefit from hormonal insights, which offer personalized health data based on their menstrual or pregnancy cycles. These insights, available through the WHOOP app’s Home and Health tabs, enable users to align their routines with their bodies’ changing needs.

In line with the focus on healthspan, the devices allow users to track their WHOOP Age and monitor their pace of aging. This data helps users manage and improve their overall health. An FDA-cleared ECG feature detects irregularities like AFib, which can be shared with doctors for further analysis.

The Heart Screener, WHOOP’s first medically cleared feature, offers on-demand ECG readings to detect conditions like Afib, making it easier for users to share results with healthcare providers or loved ones.

Each feature is designed to provide actionable coaching, helping members make smarter choices and improve their health in lasting ways.

They offer practical coaching to help users make informed health decisions, leading to lasting improvements in their well-being.

DEPTH OF DATA, CLARITY OF INSIGHTS

Striking a balance between detailed data and easy-to-understand insights is central to WHOOP’s design philosophy.

Rather than overwhelming users with numbers, WHOOP distills complex metrics into simple, meaningful scores. That’s been true from the beginning with Recovery Score, and it’s just as true now with Healthspan and WHOOP Age. These scores turn complex data into actionable insights, helping members better understand their bodies and make smarter choices for their health.

With the addition of Healthspan, WHOOP now provides a long-term perspective on wellness. The feature shows how habits impact both performance and longevity. WHOOP Age estimates a user’s physiological age, while Pace of Aging reflects how quickly or slowly that age is changing. It’s powerful to see how our habits affect the daily metrics, but it’s even more meaningful to see how they impact longevity.

Sleep tracking is also getting a significant boost. WHOOP analyzes all four sleep stages with lab-level accuracy. It provides daily recommendations based on metrics like Hours vs. Need, Sleep Consistency, Sleep Efficiency, and Sleep Stress—a new indicator of how much physiological stress your body endures during rest.

BEYOND TRACKING: WHAT’S NEXT?

Ahmed sees WHOOP evolving into much more than a wearable. “We see WHOOP as the Health Operating System of the future,” he says. Unlike other health tech, WHOOP captures continuous physiological data around the clock, giving users a detailed view of their health in real time.

This latest release reinforces that ambition. The company is expanding its ecosystem with new features designed to inform better and coach members. That includes WHOOP Advanced Labs, an upcoming service that pairs in-depth blood testing with real-time biometric data, combining long-term biomarkers and daily metrics for a clearer, more complete view of health.

WHOOP now offers two pricing tiers for its annual plans: WHOOP Peak, which provides advanced health, stress, and longevity insights, priced at 919 AED / 1,029 SAR / 879 QAR per year, and WHOOP Life, featuring medical-grade insights, available for 1,379 AED / 1,549 SAR / 1,319 QAR per year.
