Saudi Arabia will introduce a national artificial intelligence (AI) curriculum across all levels of public education starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its Human Capability Development Program.

The initiative is designed to promote national values, boost global competitiveness, and position Saudi Arabia as a leader in AI. The curriculum was developed by the National Curriculum Center in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).

A pilot version of the course, created by SDAIA, the National Curriculum Center, and the Ministry of Education, was unveiled at the Human Capability Initiative conference in April 2025.

Designed to offer age-appropriate, interactive, and practical AI learning, the curriculum will span all educational stages, from primary school to university and vocational training, and extend to lifelong learning.

A structured framework will ensure consistency across these stages, incorporating AI-related competencies into national student performance assessments. The rollout builds on the earlier launch of a pilot course, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, which was introduced this year for third-year secondary students in the general track.

Officials have described the curriculum as a foundational step toward integrating AI into the national education system, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
