The Middle East is attracting global attention, and for clear reasons. In May, the region unveiled strategic projects that are reshaping the AI landscape in unprecedented ways. Being involved in these initiatives is significant, as their impact is expected to be profound and wide-reaching.

These developments prompt reflection on the wider contribution to global progress made by the Middle East, Cisco, and its partners. The region is uniquely positioned to lead, driven not just by economic strength but also by bold public-private partnerships, decisive leadership, and a clear ability to turn ambition into action.

Across the Middle East, the future of AI is not something to be awaited. It is being actively constructed. David Meads, Vice President for the Middle East, Africa, Türkiye, Romania, and CIS at Cisco, notes that ambitious national visions in the GCC countries are laying the groundwork for knowledge-based economies and driving growth through technological innovation. This is a region that moves fast, partners strategically, and delivers at scale.

STRATEGIC MOVES IN AI

He says, “Our region’s energy around AI is undeniable.”

Regional leaders are moving forward with urgency, setting ambitious national strategies and focusing on practical implementation. Cisco’s AI Readiness Index shows that nearly every organization surveyed feels increased pressure to deploy AI solutions. Across industries, leaders envision AI-powered government services anticipating needs, robotics redefining manufacturing, and onboarding processes taking seconds instead of weeks. New sectors are emerging—some still beyond current imagination. In the Middle East, decisive steps are already being taken to turn these possibilities into reality.

New industries, some unimaginable, are on the horizon. In the Middle East, bold moves are already underway to bring these possibilities to life with remarkable speed.

To stay ahead, promises must quickly become progress.

The blueprint for AI success starts with upskilling people, strengthening security, and modernizing infrastructure, but it also depends on trust.

Those foundations are underway in the Middle East, with billions of dollars invested in AI research, talent development, and critical infrastructure. He adds, “This is a practical, real-world step that ensures our region sets the standard for how AI and digital transformation are done.”

PARTNERSHIPS POWERING THE FUTURE

Ambition continues to define the Middle East, but just as important is how that ambition is delivered. Across the region, public and private sectors are working in close coordination, moving with clarity, speed, and a shared sense of purpose. This spirit of collaboration is a defining strength for the region, as well as for companies like Cisco.

During a recent visit by Chuck Robbins, Cisco’s Chair and CEO, his second in six months, conversations with government leaders and business partners consistently returned to a central theme: a strong commitment to making AI a reality through joint effort. With over 25 years in the Middle East, Cisco remains a dedicated partner in this journey, driven by the belief that progress happens faster when pursued together.

BUILDING THE INFRASTRUCTURE TO LEAD IN AI

The Middle East has demonstrated what is possible when bold vision is matched with trusted partnerships and decisive leadership. But the momentum continues. Cisco has recently announced a series of strategic partnerships across the ecosystem to help shape the region’s AI-driven future. This includes new collaborations with universities and talent development programs designed to prepare the next generation for a world where humans and AI work side by side.

Meads notes, “We’re building AI-ready data centers, strengthening digital resilience, and shaping the workplaces of the future – places designed to attract and equip the talent that will propel the future.”

The region stands at a pivotal moment. The changes AI will bring in the coming decade are still unfolding, but one thing is clear: the infrastructure being developed today will define how far this progress can reach. As global attention turns to the partnership between the Middle East and Cisco, the focus remains on advancing with speed, working collaboratively, and turning potential into tangible outcomes.
