AAAID partners with Ghitha to advance sustainable agriculture and regional food systems
AAAID and Bahrain’s Ghitha sign a new partnership to advance sustainable farming, boost food production, and build resilient Arab food systems.
As part of a growing regional push toward sustainable agriculture, the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ghitha, a portfolio company of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, to expand cooperation in food security and agribusiness.
The agreement outlines a framework to enhance Arab cooperation in food production, establish strategic reserves of essential commodities, and enhance food distribution systems across the region.
Signed in Dubai by Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, Chairman of AAAID, and Basim Mohamed Al Saie, Chairman of Ghitha, the partnership focuses on joint investments, technical collaboration, and knowledge sharing to reinforce regional food systems.
“This MoU represents an important step toward strengthening effective Arab partnerships in agriculture and food security,” said Al Zaabi. “It reflects our commitment to sustainable investment initiatives that advance the agricultural sector across Arab countries.”
Ghitha, which manages a portfolio of leading food companies, plans to expand its operations over the next five years through new partnerships and regional investments that support Bahrain’s food security goals.
The collaboration will also focus on developing innovative agricultural products, scaling production capabilities, and leveraging market intelligence to access new regional and international markets.
By fostering joint innovation and investment, the partnership underscores a broader regional ambition to build resilient, self-sufficient, and sustainable food systems that can withstand future global shocks.
