Abu Dhabi to expand ‘Nabdh’ community hubs in push for greater social cohesion
Initially launched in the capital, Nabdh hubs were created to foster community interaction and offer services for youth, families, and seniors.

Abu Dhabi is expanding its network of Nabdh community hubs through a new agreement between the Department of Community Development (DCD) and the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).
Announced this week, the initiative will establish additional Nabdh hubs across various regions, providing inclusive spaces for residents of all ages. The DMT will oversee the development and maintenance of these centres, ensuring they meet modern standards and address diverse community needs.
First launched as a pilot in the capital, the Nabdh hub concept was designed to foster community interaction and offer access to programs and services tailored for youth, families, and senior citizens.
Hamad Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the DCD, said the expansion aligns with the goals of the Year of Community by fostering inclusive environments that promote belonging and social cooperation.
“This collaboration will expand our reach to a wider audience and enable us to develop sustainable programmes that resonate with community members,” he said, adding that thoughtful design will be key in catering to varying age groups.
Dr. Saif Sultan Al Nasri, Acting Undersecretary of DMT, emphasized the initiative’s role in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s social fabric, explaining that providing advanced community facilities is key to shaping neighborhoods, enhancing social cohesion, and reflecting the dynamic nature of Abu Dhabi’s urban landscape.
“Collaborating with the Department of Community Development has enabled us to demonstrate our commitment to building and developing modern facilities defined by engineering and architectural excellence,” Al Nasri added.
The Nabdh expansion highlights Abu Dhabi’s ongoing commitment to community-focused development, aligning with its long-term vision to create resilient, connected neighborhoods through thoughtful design and programming.
