Abu Dhabi’s G42 seeks US tech giants and chipmakers for new AI hub
G42 seeks to reduce reliance on Nvidia by partnering with AMD, Qualcomm, and others while negotiating with top US tech companies for data center tenancy

AI is rapidly reshaping global industries, prompting nations and companies alike to invest heavily in infrastructure, talent, and technology partnerships. As part of this global push, Abu Dhabi-based tech group G42 is expanding its AI ambitions with a new UAE-US campus. It aims to diversify its chip suppliers and attract major American tech firms as strategic partners, moving beyond reliance on Nvidia, according to a report by Semafor.
The report, citing a source with direct knowledge of the talks, said G42 is in discussions with alternative chipmakers, including AMD, Cerebras Systems, and Qualcomm, to power the facility’s high-performance computing needs.
The AI campus, announced during US President Donald Trump’s visit to the UAE in May, is part of a broader package of deals worth over $200 billion and is envisioned as a major regional data and AI hub.
G42 is also negotiating with several major American tech companies to become anchor tenants at the data center. Talks are ongoing with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Meta, and Elon Musk’s xAI, with Google reportedly the furthest along in the negotiation process, according to Semafor.
The move to expand supplier relationships comes amid growing global interest in reducing dependency on a single chip provider for AI infrastructure, as demand for advanced computing power continues to surge.
