Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque ranks eighth among world’s top landmarks in 2025
Based on an analysis of over eight million landmarks worldwide, the rankings place SZGM in the top one per cent of reviewed sites.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (SZGM) in Abu Dhabi has risen to eighth place in TripAdvisor’s 2025 global rankings of top attractions, moving up two spots from the previous year and maintaining its status as the leading landmark in the Middle East.
The rankings are based on an analysis of over eight million landmarks worldwide, placing SZGM within the top one percent of reviewed sites.
Meanwhile, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah also earned a spot among the top 10 percent of global landmarks, a recognition achieved soon after launching its visitor services.
According to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC), these achievements underscore the mosques’ role in promoting cultural tourism and boosting the UAE’s profile as a global destination.
Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of SZGMC, attributed the milestone to the UAE’s leadership and the centre’s strategy of enhancing facilities, developing cultural programs, and training Emirati youth to lead tours.
SZGM in Abu Dhabi attracts more than seven million visitors annually, with 82 percent of them international tourists. Visitors can enjoy facilities such as exhibition halls, a library, Souq Al Jami’, restaurants, and a jogging track.
The mosque offers general cultural tours, specialized “Unseen Glimpses” tours, and the 24-hour “Sura” evening experience designed for transit visitors or those unable to attend during regular hours. Additional services include multimedia tours in 14 languages, sign language options, and child-friendly guided visits.
The Dome of Peace, Al Jami Library, cultural auditorium, and rotating exhibitions enhance SZGM’s broader cultural offerings. The Light & Peace Museum and the immersive Diya – A Universe of Light experience further blend art, heritage, and technology to promote the mosque’s message of peace and coexistence.
