ADNOC Distribution launches one of the world’s largest EV charging hubs
The company aims to develop 20 EV charging hubs by the end of 2027, with 15 expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
ADNOC Distribution has announced the launch of a superfast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, described as the world’s sixth-largest, alongside a roadmap to electrify the UAE’s highway network by the end of 2027.
The announcement comes ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as policymakers and industry leaders gather in the capital to discuss sustainable energy and infrastructure. The project aligns with ADNOC Group’s broader strategy to support the energy transition through technology and innovation.
Located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway, which links Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the EV Megahub features 60 high-speed chargers, enabling most electric vehicles to charge from 0 to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.
ADNOC Distribution stated that the site is the largest superfast EV charging facility in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, representing a central element of its plan to develop a nationwide network of highway charging stations.
Under the roadmap, the company plans to develop 20 EV charging hubs by the end of 2027, with 15 expected to be operational by the end of 2026. The network is designed to support long-distance EV travel across the UAE and accelerate the transition to lower-emission transport.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the project supports the UAE’s National Electric Vehicles Policy and sustainable mobility goals, noting that the E11 location enhances services for intercity commuters. He added that expanding high-speed charging infrastructure is key to reducing transport energy use and boosting EV adoption, in line with the target for electric vehicles to account for 50% of cars by 2050.
ADNOC Distribution Chief Executive Bader Saeed Al Lamki said the company is expanding its charging network to meet rising EV demand, describing the new site as the first “The Hub by ADNOC” location designed specifically for intercity travel.
ADNOC Distribution is supporting the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s 2050 target through its E2GO network, one of the UAE’s largest charge point operators, which currently offers more than 400 chargers and aims to reach up to 750 by 2028.
The EV Megahub is the first “The Hub by ADNOC” site designed for commuters, combining fuel, EV charging, retail, and dining options, as well as a coworking space for travelers between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The company stated that it will continue to invest in EV infrastructure and emerging mobility solutions, leveraging its network of over 560 service stations nationwide to scale charging capacity as demand increases.
