Dubai Health has launched the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework (ALiF), marking the UAE’s first comprehensive initiative to cultivate AI proficiency within professional settings.

The announcement was made during Dubai AI Week 2025, organized by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Developed at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), ALiF offers a structured approach to understanding, evaluating, and applying AI responsibly.

While initially targeting the healthcare, education, and research sectors, the framework is designed to expand across industries, aligning with Dubai’s broader digital transformation goals.

Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Chief Academic Officer at Dubai Health and Provost of MBRU, said AI literacy has become vital as artificial intelligence reshapes daily life and professional practices. “ALiF equips all learners with the understanding and confidence to engage with AI in ways that are both informed and responsible,” he said.

ALiF begins with the AI Launchpad, a free online course introducing foundational AI concepts and practical applications. Participants can then pursue five mastery tracks tailored for learners, educators, researchers, clinicians, and administrators, with courses available at Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.

Nabil Zary, Senior Director of the Institute of Learning at MBRU, said, “Whether you are a clinician, educator, researcher, or administrator, ALiF enables you to engage with AI in ways that are relevant to your role and aligned with your professional goals.”

The launch of ALiF follows MBRU’s successful open-access initiatives, such as the Community Immunity Ambassador program during the COVID-19 pandemic, which reached over a million participants.
