Aramco and SLB partner to drive digital decarbonization in the industrial sector
This platform enables industrial companies to efficiently measure, report, and verify (MRV) emissions, supporting data-driven decarbonization decisions.
Aramco and SLB have announced a strategic partnership to advance digital decarbonization in the industrial sector. Together, they will develop, commercialize, and deploy innovative digital solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Building on their collaboration from 2022, Aramco and SLB will integrate these solutions into SLB’s digital sustainability platform. This platform helps industrial companies measure, report, and verify (MRV) their emissions, enabling data-driven decisions to accelerate decarbonization efforts.
This data and intelligence help customers stay compliant and enable them to take more strategic decarbonization actions. These include improving energy efficiency, reducing methane emissions, and advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) initiatives.
“Data is essential to support increasing calls for emissions transparency and taking decisive actions on decarbonization investments,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of Digital and Integration, SLB. “The digital sustainability platform provides the means to leverage data at scale to drive emission reduction outcomes.”
The partnership will prioritize the development of several digital solutions, including Aramco’s in-house Combined Heat Power (CHP) optimization and Flare Monitoring System (FMS). A co-developed decarbonization planning tool will be introduced, enabling emissions forecasting and simulation of various scenarios for optimal GHG reduction strategies.
These innovations will harness SLB’s digital platform expertise in security, data management, analytics, and AI to ensure global accessibility.
Walid Al Naeem, Aramco Engineering VP & Chief Engineer, noted Aramco’s hard work in developing internal technologies to mitigate GHG emissions. “This agreement marks another milestone in our partnership with SLB, to bring our innovation and expertise to the global energy and industrial market.”
By combining their expertise and resources, Aramco and SLB aim to demonstrate their commitment to reducing GHG emissions and fostering local talent development in Saudi Arabia.
