Bahrain’s government has significantly advanced its infrastructure by launching a new 220 kV electricity transmission station and a water distribution station at the Al Hidd Housing Project. The $85 million project, managed by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), aims to address the country’s increasing demand for critical services.

The electricity station, with a 360 MVA capacity, will cater to nearly 40,000 users in Hidd and nearby areas. The water distribution station, equipped with advanced technology, features a storage capacity of 2.34 million gallons.

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), a crucial partner in Bahrain’s infrastructure development initiatives, backed the project.

Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), attended the inauguration and reaffirmed the fund’s commitment to supporting Bahrain’s development.

Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa commended the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) for delivering high-quality services and ensuring infrastructure readiness in housing projects. He also highlighted the SFD’s contributions through the Gulf Development Programme.

Over its 48-year partnership with Bahrain, the SFD has financed 30 energy, transportation, and social infrastructure projects using development loans and grants from Saudi Arabia.
