Digital Dubai unveils UAE’s first AI-generated Emirati virtual family
The initiative is part of efforts to design media tools that streamline communication and promote awareness of digital government services.

Digital Dubai has unveiled the UAE’s first AI-generated Emirati virtual family, following a public initiative to name the country’s first virtual character.
The vote attracted nearly 14,000 participants, with “Latifa” emerging as the winning name, receiving 43% of the votes. “Mira” came second with 37%, while “Dubai” received 20%.
Latifa was introduced in a short social media video, where she presented her family members: her father, Mohammed; her mother, Salama; and her brother, Rashid. The family is a digital model inspired by Emirati values and designed to engage audiences across multiple languages.
According to Digital Dubai, the initiative supports its strategy to develop innovative media tools that simplify communication and raise awareness of digital government services in an engaging way.
The launch is part of the “Year of Community” initiatives, announced by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which aim to strengthen public participation and engagement.
The virtual family is envisioned as a group of digital ambassadors who share storytelling content that reflects digital life in Dubai and promote a broader culture of technology adoption.
In the next phase, Digital Dubai plans to develop distinct communication identities for each family member, producing storytelling and educational content tailored to different age groups. The initiative aims to make digital services more accessible through engaging formats while promoting safe and responsible digital behavior.
Latifa and her family are expected to appear across social media platforms, highlighting Digital Dubai’s initiatives and supporting the city’s digital transformation agenda.
