Diriyah Company awards $600 million Diriyah Square contract to Salini Saudi Arabia
The district will feature 73 buildings housing over 400 retail, dining, and leisure outlets.

Diriyah Company has awarded a $600 million contract to Salini Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of the Webuild Group, for the construction of Diriyah Square, the main retail precinct within the Diriyah masterplan. Part of the $63.2 billion Diriyah development, Diriyah Square is planned as a pedestrian-focused retail and lifestyle destination in Riyadh.
Designed in traditional Najdi style, the district will include 400 retail, dining, and leisure outlets across 73 buildings, covering more than 365,000 square meters of built-up area.
Diriyah Square will serve as the centerpiece of the broader Diriyah masterplan, which spans 14 square kilometers and includes cultural, residential, commercial, and entertainment elements. The entire development is expected to house 1,000 retail and dining outlets.
This is the Webuild Group’s third major contract within the Diriyah project. Salini is already building one of the world’s largest underground car parks beneath Diriyah Square, with 10,500 spaces, integrated transport access, and VIP drop-off zones. The company is also completing structural works for key components of the district, including hotels, branded residences, offices, and a grand mosque.
Group CEO of Diriyah Company, Jerry Inzerillo, described the contract as a pivotal moment in the project’s timeline. “Diriyah Square is one of our most exciting and prestigious districts,” he said. “We are extremely pleased to partner with Salini, whose global expertise will help bring this retail destination to life.”
Webuild CEO Pietro Salini emphasized the project’s national significance. “We are proud to contribute to a project of such symbolic and strategic importance to Saudi Arabia,” he said. “We remain committed to supporting the Kingdom in developing some of the world’s most complex infrastructure projects.”
Since its inception, Diriyah Company has awarded over $26 billion in contracts, including $5 billion in the first half of 2025 alone. Once completed, Diriyah is expected to contribute $18.6 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP and generate nearly 180,000 jobs.
The development will accommodate 100,000 residents and offer office spaces for professionals in technology, media, the arts, and education. It will also feature cultural landmarks such as the Royal Diriyah Opera House, a championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, and the Royal Equestrian & Polo Club.
