Dubai is ramping up its efforts to become a global gaming hub. Under the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 (DPG33), it has ambitious plans to create 30,000 new jobs and add $1 billion to its GDP by 2033.

According to DPG33, the city is now home to more than 350 gaming companies, including 260 dedicated game developers. These firms contribute to a global gaming industry worth $200 billion.

Since the program’s launch in November 2023, over 60 new gaming companies have established a presence in Dubai—12% of them large international players—representing a 16.6% increase in just a few months.

The gaming sector has rapidly emerged as one of Dubai’s most promising drivers of economic growth, fueled by strategic investment and a forward-looking digital infrastructure.

“The recent achievements in Dubai’s gaming industry reflect the success of the city’s vision for its future economy — one built on economic diversification and the proactive investment in current and future development opportunities,” said Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF).

He emphasized that the gaming sector offers “unprecedented economic potential,” positioning Dubai as a magnet for talent, creativity, and investment.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, launched DPG33 with the goal of positioning Dubai among the world’s top 10 global gaming hubs by 2033.

The initiative aims to nurture local talent, support entrepreneurs, encourage digital content creation, and build international partnerships.

Through training programs, events, and collaborations with leading tech companies and academic institutions, DPG33 is cultivating an ecosystem that fosters innovation and aligns with Dubai’s broader economic objectives under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
