Dubai Opera wraps up 2023-2024 season with record attendance and performances
The season drew over 250,000 people, the highest number since the venue's opening in 2016
The UAE is well known for promoting arts and culture, and Dubai Opera underscores this shared passion as it wrapped up a year of record-breaking attendance and performances.
The 2023-2024 season drew over 250,000 people, the highest number since the venue’s opening in 2016. It featured a diverse range of over 100 productions and 200 performances spanning opera, ballet, symphonic music, musicals, and concerts.
Among the highlights were the UAE premieres of the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, MusicAeterna Orchestra, and Rome Opera Ballet, all garnering global recognition. The timeless musical The Phantom of the Opera returned, reaching more than 30,000 guests. For the first time, an Arab lead, actor Nadim Naaman, played the Phantom role. Additionally, the musical Matilda made its UAE debut.
New initiatives included Film Music Week, which celebrated the magic of film music.
“The past season has been a testament to Dubai Opera’s role as a ‘House of Cultures,’ we are extremely proud to have set a new attendance record. This achievement demonstrates the growing appreciation and support for the arts in Dubai. We look forward to building on this success and providing even more extraordinary experiences for our patrons,” said Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera.
Dubai Opera will announce new shows for the 2024-2025 season on June 10, which will begin in September.
