Dubai plans to introduce electric air taxis in Q1 2026 as part of its advanced air mobility (AAM) initiatives.

Khaled Al Awadhi, director of the Transportation Systems Department at Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced at the World Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems in Dubai. The air taxis will focus on connecting locations such as hotels and the airport.

Tyler Trerotola, general manager for the Middle East at Joby Aviation, revealed that the taxis will operate from four vertiports: Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Downtown.

The electric air taxis, set to launch in Dubai in Q1 2026, will have a capacity for a pilot and four passengers and travel at speeds of up to 320 kilometers per hour. This will allow a trip from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Palm Jumeirah to be completed in 10 to 12 minutes, significantly faster than the 45-minute car journey.

In February, Skyports Infrastructure, a leader in vertiport infrastructure for the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry, signed an agreement with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and all-electric aircraft company Joby Aviation to establish passenger air taxi services in Dubai by 2026.
