Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, has unveiled the master plan for the Saih Al Salam scenic route, with a $106 million investment in rural tourism.
The initiative, which spans 2,216 square kilometers, aims to enhance rural tourism by introducing a diverse range of activities and facilities.
In collaboration with the private sector, the project will feature five themed areas within Dubai’s desert landscapes, offering attractions like an outdoor cinema, luxury camping, cycling routes, kayaking, hot air balloons, hiking trails, and safaris.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also announced that the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route master plan includes the development of five service and recreational stations. A total of 37 projects and initiatives will be completed between 2024 and 2028 and be implemented as part of the plan.
“The master plan for the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route and Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Projects reflects the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to transform Dubai’s rural areas and countryside to be among the best, most beautiful, and enjoyable for all. This contributes to solidifying the emirate’s position as an ideal destination to live and work, as well as a preferred attraction for visitors from around the world,” said Sheikh Hamdan.
He added that the goal is to increase the number of visitors by 600%, reaching over 3 million by 2040, as part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan within the framework of the Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Plan, a comprehensive development plan for the next 20 years.
The Master Plan for the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route includes developing five tourist stations and constructing 97.86 kilometers of cycling tracks, bringing the total track length to 156.61 kilometers.
In its first phase, the plan will introduce 18 new services for local residents, including three nurseries, seven parks, and three healthcare facilities. The Higher Committee for Urban Planning in Dubai will oversee the implementation of the 37 projects and initiatives, ensuring the development aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision for rural and urban growth.
