Dubai wins bid to host 99 mega events in the near future
Over 200 proposals to host international business events were submitted in the first half of 2022
Dubai, yet again, is becoming a hub of mega events in the Middle East. The Emirate has announced that in the first six months of 2022, it has won the bids to host 99 major events. These events will help boost the hospitality and tourism sectors in the region.
The government agencies estimate that these upcoming mega events will attract 77,000 foreign delegates and help occupy 330,000 hotel rooms.
The key events to be hosted in the country include Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries’ Annual Convention and Incentive later this year. At the same time, events like the International Congress of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, IFOS ENT World Congress, and IBM Best in Tech will be hosted in 2023.
Dubai will also host the Congress of the Asia-Pacific Orthopaedic Association and the International Congress of Endocrinology in 2024.
“Business events will continue to be a priority, building on the Expo 2020 Dubai legacy and Dubai’s status as a destination where the world can come together,” said Ahmed Al Khaja, chief executive officer of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.
“In line with the strategic priority placed on securing business events, these bid wins are set to boost Dubai’s events, hospitality, and related tourism sectors, in addition to advancing the wider economy by bringing expertise and knowledge from around the world,” the Emirate media office said in a prepared statement.
The Emirate’s official convention bureau stated that the successful hosting of the Dubai Expo 2020, which saw millions of visitors to the country, has helped convince many decision makers to host these events in Dubai.
