Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a substantial increase in its digital revenue in 2023, reaching $1 billion, a 16.8% rise compared to the previous year. RTA’s digital platforms facilitated 821 million transactions, reflecting a slight increase of 1%.

One of the achievements was the 29% surge in smart app usage, with transactions totaling 15.299 million. RTA’s commitment to enhancing user experience is evident through the real-time happiness indicator on its apps, which surpassed 95%.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, highlighted the 20% growth in registered users and the installation of 3.056 million apps, underscoring the success of the authority’s digital transformation.

RTA introduced an upgraded Mahboob Chatbot, now powered by ChatGPT, and launched next-generation smart kiosks to enhance its digital services.

RTA also redesigned 42 services, implemented a proactive monitoring system, and expanded its kiosk network to 30 locations, resulting in a 12% revenue increase from kiosks, totaling over $84 million.

Additionally, the authority unveiled an updated RTA Dubai app, which now features AI-driven parking predictions for 190,000 locations and NFC-enabled nol top-up, allowing users to update their balance.

The revamped S’hail app introduced new features like bicycle and e-scooter lane activation, taxi stand locations, and event details in partnership with the Department of Economy and Tourism. A new QR code-based journey planner facilitated 18 million trips in 2023.

RTA also launched its 360 Services initiative on its website, offering 63 digital services, including fine payments, marine transport rentals, and commercial shop rentals. Additionally, the authority integrated its services with the Dubai Now app, providing users with a unified platform for city experiences and insurance options.
