Dubai is accelerating its push for sustainable transportation, with ENOC Group and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) forging a landmark trial agreement to test the viability of green hydrogen-powered mobility.

The deal, signed at ENOC’s headquarters, marks a significant step towards realizing Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and bolstering the UAE’s burgeoning green hydrogen economy.

The collaboration will see ENOC supply green hydrogen fuel to RTA’s city buses, initiating a real-world test of this clean energy alternative. ENOC will also provide critical technical support and refueling data, enabling RTA to conduct a thorough feasibility study.

Green hydrogen, produced through electrolysis using renewable energy, offers a zero-emission solution, promising to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and extend vehicle driving ranges.

“Green hydrogen represents a compelling alternative to traditional energy sources, and as the UAE is focused on developing a hydrogen economy, we are proud to be at the forefront of its adoption in the UAE,” said Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC.

Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the agreement’s role in strengthening ties between RTA and ENOC to implement green hydrogen solutions across RTA’s transport network, including public buses and marine vessels, making them more sustainable and eco-friendly.
