Etihad Rail Freight carries 459,000 tonnes in nine days across UAE rail network
The services connect key industrial zones, ports, and logistics hubs, reinforcing the rail system’s role as a backbone of the UAE’s multimodal transport ecosystem.
Freight operations on the Etihad Rail continue uninterrupted, highlighting the resilience of the country’s logistics infrastructure amid evolving regional dynamics.
Operated by Etihad Rail Freight, the freight arm of Etihad Rail, the network has maintained steady cargo movement across the United Arab Emirates, ensuring businesses and supply chains remain supported.
Over the past nine days alone, Etihad Rail Freight has operated more than 100 freight train trips, transporting more than 459,000 tonnes of cargo and over 7,900 containers across the national railway network. The services connect key industrial zones, ports, and logistics hubs, reinforcing the rail system’s role as a backbone of the country’s multimodal transport ecosystem.
To strengthen operational resilience, additional rail corridors have been activated while intermodal capacity has been redeployed to East Coast ports. The Al Ghail Dry Port Rail Terminal has also been supported with five additional train services to ensure the continued flow of cargo across the network.
Operations remain aligned with established safety and operational protocols, while the company continues to coordinate closely with relevant authorities and monitor developments across the region.
Since the launch of commercial freight operations, the national railway has steadily evolved into a vital component of the UAE’s logistics infrastructure, providing businesses with a dependable, safe, and sustainable transport alternative that enhances supply chain efficiency and resilience.
