In the past, the high-end jewelry business was split between internationally known brands, like Harry Winston, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, and local boutique designers.

Now, a handful of strong Arab brands have begun to carve out a territory — from Azza Fahmy’s pieces that have been spotted on celebrities such as Naomi Campbell and Queen Rania of Jordan to Noudar Jewels that gained popularity with celebrities like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Kendall Jenner.

In the latest Fenty Beauty campaign, Rihanna, founder of the beauty brand, wears henna rings from Qatari label Noudar Jewels, founded by Noor Ali Hussain Alfardan, known for its unique blend of traditional Arabian influences with a modern take on luxury jewelry.

The brand incorporates Omani patterns reminiscent of mosaic work and henna designs.

This is not Rihanna’s first time incorporating international designers into her beauty campaigns. In January, the superstar attended a Dior couture show in Paris, where she was wearing shoes by her favorite footwear designer, Amina Muaddi, a Romanian-Jordanian designer.

Muaddi’s creations have been a staple for Rihanna, appearing on red carpets, galas, and casual outings. The successful collaboration between Rihanna and Muaddi led to a “Collaborator of the Year” award at the FN Achievement Awards 2020.
