As GITEX Global 2024 draws to a close, the final day has left attendees and exhibitors buzzing with eager anticipation for the future of innovation. Throughout the week, the event has highlighted innovations, advanced technologies, and thought-provoking discussions that are set to influence the trajectory of the tech industry for years to come.

Several companies seized the opportunity to forge partnerships and sign MoUs aimed at reshaping the future of innovation. Among them, IntelliGrid—a joint venture between Esyasoft Holding and ADX-listed Presight—made its debut at GITEX Global 2024. Throughout the week, IntelliGrid showcased its AI-powered solutions, highlighting the impact of artificial intelligence on the energy sector and the evolution of smart grids.

Commvault, a provider of cyber resilience and data protection for the hybrid cloud, has partnered with Meerana, a technology company focused on developing smart innovations, to advance strategic business initiatives in the UAE.

The Digital Dubai Authority has signed an MOU with KAOUN International to strengthen the Emirate’s digital transformation efforts. This partnership will enhance DDA’s presence within the GITEX ecosystem, enable the exploration of new international technology markets, and support KAOUN International through exhibitor and sponsorship roles.

GITEX also saw collaborations aimed at empowering Emirati youth and enhancing cybersecurity. e& announced its partnership with the Federal Youth Authority to support the UAE’s National Youth Agenda 2031, emphasizing skill development and leadership among young Emiratis. Meanwhile, the Dubai Financial Services Authority joined forces with Moro Hub to bolster cybersecurity in Dubai’s financial sector, highlighting a commitment to digital transformation and security.

Also, Emirates Transport has partnered with Al Ghurair Motors to pilot hydrogen and electric commercial vehicles, marking a significant step toward eco-friendly transportation. Under the MoU, the two entities will explore and promote alternative fuel vehicles, assess their feasibility, and execute pilot projects for integration into Emirates Transport’s fleet of over 32,000 vehicles.

The partnership also includes technical training for Emirates Transport staff, infrastructure development for EV charging and hydrogen fueling technology, and a commitment to expand these sustainable initiatives.

Beyond partnerships, 5G technology emerged as a focal point at GITEX Global 2024.

Industry leaders from Huawei, e&, Nokia, and others showcased how 5G, combined with AI, is poised to drive a hyperconnected future. With the GSMA projecting 1.4 billion 5G devices by 2025, discussions focused on 5G’s transformative role in shaping autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and IoT applications.

The event’s closing days spotlighted AI projects from institutions like Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. Innovations like FRAPPE, a media content analysis tool, and BiMediX2, a bilingual AI medical assistant, showcased how AI is harnessed for real-world applications. Projects like GeoChat+ and Dog Bot highlighted AI’s potential in sustainability and public service sectors.

The Abu Dhabi government also unveiled several innovations, including GovGPT, an AI-driven knowledge agent designed to provide government employees with instant access to policies and information. They also introduced TAMM 3.0, a platform offering over 800 AI-enabled government services with voice capabilities in Arabic and English. Lastly, Abu Dhabi Police showcased the Magnum MK1, an autonomous, bulletproof patrol vehicle that enhances security with advanced surveillance and a custom-designed prisoner cell.

The Advanced Technology Research Council showcased its sustainable, AI-inspired EAV24 autonomous race car, which is set to debut in the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League. Meanwhile, the Capital Health Screening Centre announced plans to leverage AI to enhance tuberculosis (TB) chest X-ray screenings.

Finally, M Premiere will close GITEX Global 2024 with DJ Eric Prydz’s HOLO show at Expo City Arena, marking its Middle East debut with a captivating blend of music and 3D holographic visuals.

As GITEX comes to an end, it emphasizes the transformative impact of AI and 5G across various industries.
