Here’s how RTA Dubai aims to cut congestion and improve traffic flow
By launching a platform that leverages AI to analyze five years of historical traffic data and real-time road conditions.

As road congestion continues to grow across metropolitan cities, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched “Data Drive – Clear Guide,” an advanced digital platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze five years of historical traffic data alongside real-time road conditions.
The system is designed to enable instant, data-driven decisions aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow across the emirate.
The platform compiles and processes large-scale traffic datasets from leading international providers, presenting accurate, minute-by-minute insights through an interactive map.
Users can select specific roads or areas to assess average speeds, monitor traffic density, and measure travel times, making it a valuable resource for both operational teams and long-term transport planners.
Its capabilities include analyzing historical and live traffic to spot congestion patterns, identifying periods of smooth flow and bottlenecks, issuing instant alerts for disruptions, tracking the impact of diversions and events, and generating before-and-after reports to evaluate roadworks or upgrades.
By replacing older, manual data collection methods, which could take weeks, the platform can now produce the same insights within minutes. This significantly improves response times, allowing RTA teams to manage incidents, optimize diversions, and minimize delays more effectively.
The initiative is part of RTA’s broader strategy to integrate AI, intelligent analytics, and autonomous mobility solutions, aligning with Dubai’s goal of becoming the world’s smartest city and a global leader in innovation, sustainability, and transport efficiency.
According to RTA, the platform will be instrumental in driving digital transformation within the emirate’s transport sector, equipping stakeholders with the tools to plan more strategically, respond faster, and maintain smooth mobility across the city.
