Honor is looking beyond smartphones with its ALPHA PLAN, a new strategy to expand into AI-powered device ecosystems. The company says it will take a phased approach, starting with AI-integrated smartphones, followed by building an open AI ecosystem and eventually exploring Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

The ALPHA PLAN lays out a three-step approach: first, integrating human-centric AI into smartphones; second, creating an open AI ecosystem; and finally, exploring the role of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in enhancing human capabilities.

Honor introduced new AI-driven features, including a GUI-based personal mobile assistant that can manage tasks like restaurant reservations by integrating user calendars and traffic data. The company also launched AiMAGE, an AI-powered imaging technology designed to improve image clarity and telephoto quality.

The on-device model, powered by 1.3 billion parameters, improves image clarity by 50%, while the cloud version, with 12.4 billion parameters, enhances telephoto image quality. A major aspect of Honor’s strategy is building an open AI ecosystem. The company has committed over $10 billion in investment over the next five years, calling on industry partners to collaborate and integrate AI capabilities across devices.

“As we move into the physical AI era, we need to open our industry boundaries and co-create a new paradigm for the AI ecosystem,” said James Li, CEO of Honor.

To highlight its commitment to collaboration, Honor hosted a tree-lighting ceremony with representatives from Google Cloud, Qualcomm Technologies, and major telecom operators—a symbolic gesture toward fostering a unified AI ecosystem.

“Collaboration is the fabric that weaves together the open ecosystem for AI,” said Matt Waldbusser of Google Cloud, highlighting the partnership’s focus on integrating Google’s Gemini AI models into Honor devices.

Honor reaffirmed its focus on consumer support and sustainability, committing to seven years of Android OS and security updates for its Magic series in the EU. The company also accelerated its environmental targets, aiming for operational carbon neutrality by 2040 and full carbon neutrality across its supply chain and products by 2050.
