By 2028, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will be connected by a railway projected to reduce travel time between Kuwait City and Riyadh, which are 650km apart, to two hours.

Reported by Arab News, which cited sources from the Ministry of Public Works, the first phase of the study on the project will be conducted within the next three months. This phase will include mapping out a key route from the Al Shaddadiya area in Kuwait and extending through Riyadh city.

The second phase focuses on the design aspect and is expected to take nearly one year to complete. Meanwhile, the third phase will involve the implementation and construction of the project, aiming to be completed within three years. This was noted by ministry officials, who added that all the necessary procedures and approvals for phase I are currently being finalized.

The Innovation By Design Summit is in Doha on April 24. Attendance at the summit is by invitation only. Delegates can register here to receive their exclusive invite.
