The Holy Makkah Municipality has launched a new digital initiative to boost the city’s greenery and cut carbon emissions. Through the Nabatik online platform, citizens and residents can now engage in tree-planting activities.

The platform allows users to select suitable tree species and designated planting locations within Makkah and its holy sites. Participants can choose their preferred tree, pick a location, and make online payments to facilitate planting their chosen trees.

This digital initiative provides a convenient means for the community to participate in environmental conservation and contribute to climate goals actively. Individuals can help expand green spaces, enhance air quality, and lower the city’s carbon footprint by engaging in tree planting.

Tree planting is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s long-term sustainability vision, including a comprehensive implementation framework. The plan aims to plant 10 billion trees over several years, with over 600 million trees and shrubs anticipated to be planted by 2030.

In addition to its environmental benefits, this initiative is expected to create new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for citizens and residents throughout the Kingdom.
