Harnessing the potential of clean energy and leveraging it as a viable alternative to its non-renewable counterparts is crucial to the UAE’s growth story in the region. Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), the UAE’s clean energy leader, TotalEnergies, and EPointZero, the decarbonization arm of 2PointZero, a global investment platform, have signed a Framework for Action (FFA) agreement to enhance access to clean energy in emerging markets and developing economies across Africa and Asia.

The agreement strengthens Masdar and TotalEnergies’ collaboration to provide reliable, sustainable electricity to local communities in Africa, supporting the long-term transformation of energy systems on the continent.

Additionally, the two companies will jointly explore new clean energy opportunities in Southeast Asia. TotalEnergies and EPointZero will also identify potential partnerships to support India’s clean energy goals, including solar, wind, and energy storage projects, to contribute to the nation’s decarbonization efforts.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, and Mariam Almheiri, Group CEO of 2PointZero. The agreement was formalized at the third plenary meeting of the UAE-France High-Level Business Council in Paris on February 16, with Masdar’s CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Stéphane Michel, TotalEnergies President for Gas Renewable and Power, and Peter Abraam, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer of IHC, signing the document.

This FFA brings together these leading companies under the Council’s framework to expand their capabilities and drive access to clean energy in emerging markets across Africa and Asia.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, remarked, “Masdar is proud to collaborate with TotalEnergies to deliver clean energy access across Southeast Asia and Africa. This agreement reflects our commitment to empowering local communities and advancing global energy transformation.”

Stéphane Michel, President of TotalEnergies, added, “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Abu Dhabi to the development of renewable energies in emerging markets in Asia and Africa.”
