Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled the S 680 V12 Edition, a limited-run model that emphasizes heritage and craftsmanship in an industry shifting toward electrification and autonomous driving. The car was revealed on September 23 at Fort Michelangelo in Civitavecchia, Italy, and only 50 units will be produced worldwide.

“This edition celebrates our iconic V12 engine,” said Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach at Mercedes-Benz Group AG. “It reflects a tradition of combining advanced technology with exclusive style.”

Inspired by the Maybach Zeppelin of the 1930s, the V12 Edition is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 612 hp and 900 Nm of torque, reaching 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Performance is smooth and quiet, aided by rear-axle steering, active suspension, and road noise cancellation.

The interior features five OLED displays with the latest MBUX interface. Built through Mercedes’ MANUFAKTUR program, the exterior combines a two-tone olive metallic and obsidian black finish with a silver pinstripe that takes up to 10 days to apply. A chrome and 24-carat gold “12” emblem on the C-pillar references the Maybach Zeppelin DS 8.

Inside, the car is finished in saddle brown Nappa leather and burr walnut wood, with a handcrafted wood-leather steering wheel, golden inlays, custom embroidery, and a “1 of 50” badge. Each vehicle also comes with silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes, a custom key box, and an edition-specific key ring.

The S 680 V12 Edition highlights craftsmanship and exclusivity in a market where electric and V12 models now share showroom space.
