Mubadala Investment Company, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investment arm, has officially launched Mubadala Bio—a dedicated life sciences company focused on advancing healthcare outcomes both within the UAE and globally.

The initiative highlights Mubadala’s commitment to bolstering healthcare resilience, strengthening drug security, and supporting the UAE’s broader push for economic diversification and a knowledge-driven economy.

Mubadala Bio’s portfolio spans 10 facilities across Asia, Africa, and Europe—six of which are in the UAE—serving more than 100 countries.

Together, these facilities offer an annual production capacity exceeding 2.5 billion tablets and capsules, 120 million IVs and injectables, and cover a total of 110,000 square meters, enabling the manufacture and global distribution of over 10,000 medical products.

The company focuses on critical therapeutic areas that address urgent global health challenges, supporting the full continuum of care—from prevention and diagnostics to treatment, recovery, and complementary medicine.

“By launching Mubadala Bio, we are taking a transformative step towards strengthening national drug security and fostering innovation in life sciences,” said Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform.

“This positions Mubadala at the forefront of the industry, enabling us to drive long-term economic growth, build a resilient life sciences ecosystem, and elevate Abu Dhabi’s role in delivering impactful health solutions,” he adds.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of UAE Clusters at Mubadala, described the launch as a key milestone in the UAE’s journey toward global leadership in life sciences. He highlighted that Mubadala Bio will enhance local R&D, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution capabilities, supporting the entire healthcare supply chain.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s Centennial 2071 vision and will make its public debut at Make it in the Emirates 2025, showcasing the UAE’s growing competitiveness as a regional hub for healthcare manufacturing and innovation.
