National Youth Orchestra Dubai makes historic Carnegie Hall debut
For the first time, a Dubai youth group performed on a legendary classical music stage, backed by Dubai Culture’s Grant.

Dubai has positioned itself as a global hub for culture and the arts, investing heavily in creative industries to diversify its economy and enrich community life. At the heart of this vision is a focus on nurturing young musical talent, recognizing music as a universal language, one that carries memory, tells stories, and creates spaces for people to connect.
In line with this vision, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) continues to support young musicians, providing platforms that cultivate their talent and ambition. This commitment was showcased when the National Youth Orchestra Dubai (NYO Dubai) performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall. For the first time, a youth ensemble from Dubai took to one of the most iconic stages in classical music—an achievement made possible through Dubai Culture’s grant program, part of the Emirate’s Quality of Life Strategy.
Yet the orchestra’s time in New York was about more than the spotlight. In the days leading up to their performance, the young musicians embarked on a journey of exploration. Under the guidance of Ms. Amira Fouad, Artistic Director of the National Youth Orchestra, they visited cultural landmarks including the prestigious Juilliard School of Music and the flagship headquarters of Steinway & Sons Pianos.
They also had the unique opportunity to participate in specialised orchestral masterclasses led by acclaimed international artists, including Maestro Helen Cha-Pyo, Artistic Director of the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts.
