Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the launch of the Dubai National University, which will be funded with $1.23 billion.

“Dubai National University will rank among the top 50 young universities within the next decade, offering specialized academic programs and contributing significantly to research,said Sheikh Mohammed on X. He added that the institution aims to be among the top 200 universities worldwide in the next 20 years.

The university is a key component of Dubai’s Social Agenda 33 (D33), which aims to position Dubai as a global hub for higher education and scientific research while preparing highly skilled Emirati leaders and professionals.

It will catalyze this vision and the broader goal of making Dubai one of the top 10 cities globally for education within the next decade.

Moreover, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, and President of Dubai National University, emphasized that the institution will be pivotal in developing the academic talent and leadership skills needed for future sectors.

A global advisory board comprising international experts will guide the institution’s development. This will include offering high-quality programs and fostering academic collaborations with global institutions and research centers.

The university will focus on attracting top global talent through competitive admission standards and scholarship opportunities.

Additionally, it will establish partnerships with businesses and government entities to provide students with access to advanced research facilities and internships.
