New Abu Dhabi initiative aims to make volunteering easier and more impactful
This initiative aims to position Abu Dhabi as a global leader in volunteerism while fostering a culture of community engagement.

The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Volunteers.ae platform, has launched the “Volunteer in 60 Seconds” initiative to make volunteering more accessible and encourage greater community engagement.
The initiative streamlines the registration process for Volunteers.ae, reducing the time from eight minutes to just 60 seconds. This enhancement supports the DCD and Volunteers.ae’s shared mission to improve the overall volunteer experience and aligns with the Abu Dhabi Government’s Effortless Customer Experience program.
Fatema Al Hosani, Licensing Acting Division Manager and Licensing of Third Sector and Place of Worship Section Head at the Department of Community Development, stated: “The Volunteer in 60 Seconds initiative reflects our commitment to providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for volunteers while encouraging more individuals to participate in volunteer activities. This initiative aligns with government efforts to simplify services, ultimately attracting more volunteers, strengthening social bonds, and making volunteerism a core aspect of Abu Dhabi’s community life.”
Al Hosani added that the initiative is designed to simplify the volunteering process, safeguard volunteers’ rights, and accurately track their contributions and hours—supporting DCD’s broader vision of enhancing the quality of life and fostering sustainable social cohesion.
She added: “Volunteering is more than just a social contribution; it is a fundamental part of national identity and a key driver in strengthening social structures, fostering the growth of the social sector, and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in volunteerism both locally and internationally.”
Hussain Al Balushi, Project Manager at Volunteers.ae, commented: “Volunteers are a national asset and key contributors to sustainable economic and social development. We are proud to collaborate with the DCD to provide an outstanding and convenient volunteer experience through the Volunteer in 60 Seconds initiative. This is a significant step towards establishing a leading volunteer ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.”
