New RTA initiative aims to shape future Emirati engineering leaders
Initiative aligns with Dubai’s Emiratisation strategy and aims to build future-ready engineering talent

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a new training programme, the “Promising Engineer – Fast Track,” designed to equip Emirati engineering graduates with the skills and experience needed to thrive in technical and leadership roles across the transport sector.
The initiative aims to enhance the professional competencies of UAE nationals while supporting RTA’s strategic goals of future-readiness, innovation, and corporate reputation. It also aligns with the broader objectives of the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai to promote Emiratisation by developing national talent for long-term career growth.
The programme targets recent engineering graduates with strong academic records. Eligibility criteria include UAE nationality, a university degree in engineering from a recognised institution, a minimum GPA of 3.5, and graduation within the past two years. Candidates must also successfully pass a personal interview process.
Athari Mohamed, Executive Director of Human Resources and Development at RTA, highlighted the programme’s significance in nurturing the next generation of Emirati engineering talent.
“By attracting elite Emirati engineers, we reaffirm our commitment to our leadership’s vision of empowering national talent,” said Mohamed. “We’re fostering a supportive work environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and long-term job stability, while providing clear pathways for growth.”
Participants in the programme will engage in comprehensive learning modules that include technical training, practical fieldwork, mentoring, and involvement in operational teams and committees. Their development will be regularly assessed to ensure they meet performance benchmarks and gain meaningful hands-on experience.
RTA offers a robust set of incentive benefits to support talent retention and development. These include structured career progression pathways, professional certifications, and high-impact technical project assignments. The programme also partners with leading international companies and universities to ensure the incorporation of global best practices.
The training will be delivered across RTA’s agencies and sectors, focusing on innovation and real-world exposure. Participants will work on some of Dubai’s most significant infrastructure and transport projects, gaining insights into the scale and complexity of the city’s development plans.
