New strategy strengthens Abu Dhabi’s approach to hazardous materials
This strategy includes adopting advanced technologies and an integrated digital ecosystem with smart monitoring, real-time tracking, and centralised databases.

As Abu Dhabi advances its commitment to environmental sustainability and public safety, the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre (ADHMMC) has unveiled its Strategy for 2025 to 2027. The plan supports the emirate’s broader goal of reinforcing regulatory systems, embracing advanced technologies, and promoting sustainable development across key sectors.
The strategy represents a significant step in supporting the directives of the Abu Dhabi Government and the vision of the UAE’s leadership. It aims to improve the management of hazardous materials through an integrated, forward-looking approach that prioritizes innovation, safeguards the community, and protects the environment.
The strategy enables ADHMMC to oversee and regulate every stage of hazardous materials handling, ensuring all stakeholders adhere to approved policies and standards. It also fosters collaboration with both government and private sector entities within a supportive, business-friendly environment.
Key objectives include strengthening hazardous materials management, enhancing institutional capabilities, improving emergency preparedness, and developing comprehensive legislative and regulatory frameworks. These goals are designed to reinforce governance, ensure compliance, and elevate safety standards across all operations.
Ahmed Saif bin Zaytoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, said, “The launch of the centre’s strategy is a pivotal step in reinforcing the hazardous materials management system in the emirate. It reflects our leadership’s vision and commitment to building a safe, sustainable, and investment-attractive environment in the capital, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a global hub for sustainability and innovation.”
Khalfan Abdulla Khalfan Almansoori, Acting Director-General of ADHMMC, stated, “Through this strategy, the centre aims to establish a roadmap for achieving comprehensive and qualitative advancements in hazardous materials management. This represents a pivotal step toward a more sustainable future, in alignment with the national agenda of the Abu Dhabi Government and its plans aimed at enhancing economic and social development.”
He added that the strategy incorporates advanced technologies and a unified digital ecosystem, featuring smart monitoring, real-time tracking, and centralized data management.
