Ministry of Sport’s Al-Rahhala initiative targets safer, more sustainable adventure trips

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport has launched a new licensing service for organized adventure travel activities, known as “Al-Rahhala,” covering trips conducted both inside and outside the Kingdom.

The new licensing section has been introduced on the Riyadi platform to streamline regulatory procedures and establish a unified process for organizing adventure trips. The service is also intended to help ensure that licensed activities are conducted safely and in line with applicable regulations.

Al-Rahhala combines adventure travel with environmental exploration and seeks to encourage more responsible and sustainable approaches to travel.

Through the platform, applicants can submit permit requests, which will be reviewed in coordination with the relevant authorities based on the nature and location of each trip.

Licensed travelers will also be able to access services provided by other government entities and supporting organizations involved in the activities.

The ministry said the initiative is intended to support the development of organized adventure travel in Saudi Arabia and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a destination for safe and sustainable exploration.

It also aims to encourage travelers to professionally document sporting, cultural and exploration experiences undertaken through licensed trips, both within the Kingdom and abroad.
