Dubai launches GenDubAI, an AI education platform for families
The platform helps parents and children understand AI, explore its possibilities and navigate its risks together.
Dubai has launched a digital educational platform to help parents better understand how children use artificial intelligence and support them in using the technology safely and responsibly.
Known as GenDubAI, the platform is designed for families with children aged 8 to 15, offering interactive resources that explain how AI works, its potential benefits and risks, and how it can be used for learning and creativity.
Developed by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI), in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA) and Dubai Future Foundation, the initiative aims to make AI education more accessible to families as the technology becomes increasingly embedded in children’s daily lives.
Available in Arabic and English, GenDubAI will feature activities designed to help parents and children explore the technology together and encourage conversations about its use at home.
“The UAE is among the world’s leading countries in the adoption of AI, in parallel with growing levels of smart-device use among children in and outside schools. Through this initiative, we aim to help parents confidently guide their children in benefiting from the opportunities offered by AI while also understanding its challenges,” said Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation.
“Knowledge of safe and responsible AI use is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children to help them thrive in the age of AI,” Belhoul added.
The launch comes amid growing concerns over children’s exposure to AI-generated content, data privacy and the reliability of information produced by AI tools, placing greater emphasis on digital literacy and parental involvement.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, director-general of the Community Development Authority, said preparing children for a technology-driven future is crucial but must go hand-in-hand with raising awareness of AI’s potential risks, placing greater responsibility on families to guide their children’s use of the technology.
“With this in mind, the GenDubAI platform places families at the heart of the AI learning journey, transforming technology into a shared space for learning, dialogue, and creativity within the family,” she said.
The platform supports the objectives of Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the UAE’s Year of the Family, with a focus on strengthening local values, cultural identity and family engagement.
Saeed Al Falasi, executive director of the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, said the platform would offer children “limitless opportunities of artificial intelligence under the direct guidance of their parents” while also incorporating UAE values and cultural identity.
He added that the platform is built around the concept of ‘family moments’, offering content that can be integrated into everyday life.
The platform has been designed to evolve continuously through the addition of new content, tools and educational pathways that keep pace with rapid advances in AI and the changing needs of families.
