Ruler of Dubai sanctions over $272 million in housing support
The housing support approvals issued this month under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program benefitted more than 1,300 citizens.
The UAE has emerged as a cosmopolitan hub for trade, technology and talent in the region. In order to meet its ambitious development targets across sectors, talent creation and retention are key areas of interest for the oil-producing nation. In January, the UAE approved over $272 million in housing support as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance community well-being.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized that the UAE is continuously improving its housing system to meet the needs of its citizens swiftly and effectively. He stated, “The UAE continues to enhance its housing system to support citizens and address their needs promptly and effectively.”
The housing support approvals issued this month under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program benefitted more than 1,300 citizens, with a total value exceeding $272 million. Sheikh Mohammed also noted “efforts are underway to increase the number of beneficiaries throughout the year to address all pending applications.”
Reflecting on the achievements of the past two years in the housing sector, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted those 13,000 applications had been processed and approved, and the waiting period has been reduced to just two months. He added that this “timeline ranks among the shortest globally.”
Sheikh Mohammed further emphasized the UAE’s commitment to fostering family stability through the ongoing improvement of housing services, stressing the development of an integrated system to streamline approvals across funding and housing entities. He remarked, “The aim is to eventually enable approvals within a single day.”
Recent developments in the UAE housing market have been characterized by a surge in demand, driven by a growing population, expatriate inflows, and the country’s robust economic recovery. Property prices in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have seen notable increases, with certain areas in Dubai’s prime real estate market experiencing year-on-year price growth of up to 30%. The luxury real estate sector, in particular, has experienced significant growth, reflecting both local and international interest.
Additionally, the UAE government has placed a strong emphasis on sustainable housing solutions. New projects focus on eco-friendly designs, smart home technologies, and energy-efficient buildings. The country’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the adoption of green building certifications and environmentally conscious urban planning.
The UAE remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing its national housing system through comprehensive strategies aimed at ensuring sustainability in the delivery of housing services. The Sheikh Zayed Housing Program continues to play a pivotal role in realizing this vision.
