Dubai launches Uzbekistan business council as trade hits $2.8 billion
The new council aims to deepen trade and investment ties as the number of Uzbek companies operating in Dubai continues to grow.
Dubai is looking to deepen its economic ties with Uzbekistan by launching a new business council aimed at expanding trade, investment, and private-sector collaboration between the two markets.
Dubai Chamber of Commerce has established the Uzbekistan Business Council, providing a platform to connect Uzbek companies and investors with businesses operating in Dubai and identify opportunities across different sectors.
The announcement comes as economic ties between Dubai and Uzbekistan continue to grow. Non-oil trade between the two markets reached AED10.3 billion ($2.8 billion) in 2025, according to Dubai Chambers.
The number of active Uzbek companies registered as members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce also climbed to 826 in 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 21.3%. A further 75 Uzbek companies joined the chamber during the first half of 2026.
During the council’s inaugural meeting at Dubai Chambers’ headquarters, participants discussed opportunities to increase mutual investment, strengthen connections between companies in both markets, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and data. The council will also explore opportunities to organize bilateral business events.
“The launch of the Uzbekistan Business Council creates an important platform for strengthening trade and investment partnerships between Dubai and Uzbekistan,” said Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers.
She added that the council would help create new opportunities for cross-sector cooperation while supporting sustainable, long-term partnerships between the two business communities.
The initiative also reflects Dubai’s efforts to strengthen its position as a hub for Uzbek businesses and investors seeking opportunities in the emirate and wider international markets.
Ulugbekhon Maksumov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Business Council in Dubai and Founder and CEO of Aksum Group, described the council as a “practical platform” where entrepreneurs can connect with partners and investors and companies can identify new opportunities.
“Together, we will build stronger business bridges between Uzbekistan and the UAE and contribute to the continued growth of trade, investment and economic cooperation between our two countries,” he said.
Business councils operating under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce represent international investor communities based in the emirate. They work with the chamber to strengthen commercial relationships between Dubai-based companies and businesses in their respective markets, with the broader aim of increasing cross-border trade and investment.
