Qatar World Cup 2022 ticket sales near 3 million
Additional 30,000 rooms are available to football tournament visitors
Qatar is ready, and the stage is set. With the tournament around the corner, Qatar World Cup 2022 organizers and FIFA have declared their preparedness to host the event at a press conference in Doha.
During a press conference organized to commemorate the One Month To Go countdown before the FIFA World Cup, the organizers revealed that an additional 30,000 rooms are available to World Cup visitors.
As the countdown to the first Middle East and Arab World FIFA World Cup continues, ticket sales are getting close to 3 million.
“Qatar is ready to host a global celebration of the beautiful game. It promises to be a unique edition of the FIFA World Cup – and one that will leave a lasting, positive impact on Qatar, the Middle East, and the Arab world,” said Nasser Al Khater, CEO of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Meanwhile, the tournament broke sales records for hospitality tickets. Qatar, the US, Saudi Arabia, England, Mexico, the UAE, Argentina, France, Brazil, and Germany made up the top 10 purchasing nations out of the 2.89 million tickets sold.
Fans should reserve their lodging as soon as possible and apply for the necessary Hayya Card, according to the tournament’s organizers. For international fans, the Hayya Card will serve as an admission permit. It will also offer cost-free national public transportation and permit match-day ticket holders access to stadiums.
Foreign police forces will work alongside Qatari police to secure the event. “It is not a foreign concept; many major international sporting events have a centralized policing unit working together. There will be fans from all over the world descending on Qatar, and it makes sense to have policing units, especially from those countries whose fans are coming here,” said Al Khater.
According to the organizers, up to 40,000 people, each day will attend the FIFA Fan Festival at Al Bidda Park throughout the competition. Live matches will be broadcasted, as well as football-related events and performances by international artists.
