The inaugural TOURISE Awards have announced their first winners, celebrating destinations that are redefining exploration, hospitality, and cultural connection for the modern traveler.

Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the awards recognized Tokyo, Japan, as the standout winner, earning Best Overall Destination along with honors for Best Food & Culinary and Best Entertainment Destination — reaffirming its global reputation for innovation and world-class experiences.

Selected by an independent, cross-sector jury from a global pool of nominations, the 2025 TOURISE Award winners reflect destinations that have elevated travel into an art form — blending culture, creativity, and community impact through immersive experiences and compelling storytelling.

The winners included New York, USA, named Best Arts & Culture Destination for its fusion of world-class institutions and neighborhood creativity; Ancash, Peru, awarded Best Adventure Destination for its iconic Andean landscapes; Tokyo, Japan, honored as Best Food & Culinary Destination; and Paris, France, recognized as Best Shopping Destination for seamlessly merging heritage with modern creativity in fashion and retail.

Speaking at the ceremony, His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of TOURISE, said the winning destinations “are not just places on a map; they are living, breathing inspirations that unite cultures and spark imaginations.” He added that TOURISE is “shaping the next 50 years of travel,” emphasizing how each destination embodies authenticity, creativity, and connection.

The awards were presented during a gala dinner at Riyadh’s Ritz-Carlton, featuring a curated culinary journey by Saudi chef Nawal Alkhalawi and a live performance by international artist Loren Allred.

The judging panel brought together global icons from across the travel, culture, and lifestyle industries, including Filip Boyen (former CEO, Forbes Travel Guide), Michael Ellis (former Global Director, Michelin Guides), Fiona Jeffery (former Chair, World Travel Market), Renaud de Lesquen (former CEO, Givenchy), and Lars Nittve (Founding Director, Tate Modern).

Also on the panel were Albert Read (former Managing Director, Condé Nast), Caroline Rush (former CEO, British Fashion Council), Omar Samra (UN Goodwill Ambassador and explorer), and Bernold Schroeder (former CEO, Kempinski and Pan Pacific).

Looking ahead, the organization aims to continue spotlighting destinations that inspire curiosity, foster connection, and deliver unforgettable experiences for a new generation of travelers.
