The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) has forged a new partnership with the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA), formalizing their collaboration through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting cooperation in space exploration and technology development.

The agreement, signed at the SSA’s Riyadh headquarters, aims to enhance bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and South Korea in space exploration and technology development.

The MoU supports the SSA’s mission to advance Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in space exploration while promoting scientific and economic growth through innovation and technology.

This partnership comes as Saudi Arabia’s commercial space sector, largely driven by the private sector, continues to grow. With over 250 companies and support from more than 20 government agencies, the Kingdom is reinforcing its commitment to space industry development.

The agreement highlights key areas of collaboration, such as deep space technologies, manned flight programs, satellite launches, and payload development.

The partnership also aims to build expertise in space sciences and engineering through knowledge-sharing and research initiatives while encouraging investment and innovation within the space sector.

Mohammed Al-Tamimi, CEO of the SSA, emphasized the agreement’s role in enhancing international cooperation. He highlighted the importance of global partnerships in advancing technological capabilities and growing the space economy, noting that the MoU will foster collaboration between Saudi and Korean space professionals.

This partnership is expected to drive the growth of the space economy and elevate the global standing of both nations.

The announcement follows Al-Tamimi’s participation in the G20 Space Economy Leaders Meeting in Brazil, where he showcased Saudi Arabia’s achievements in space exploration and its commitment to using space technology for sustainable development and climate change mitigation.
